Wetsuit Made in the U.S.A.

by Marcus Price
(Ventura, California)

I had heard that Aleeda Wetsuits is one of the only companies that actually make wetsuits here in the USA. I had also heard that they would customize your suit to get a perfect fit which is good for me because I'm real tall and skinny. So I went on their website and it was pretty cool to be able to pick out which suit I wanted and then fill in the custom measurement form..it was super easy and within two weeks I had my suit.

The best thing of all is that I knew my suit was made here in the good ole' USA, no not in China or Taiwan...right here in my state of California!

I have an O'Neill psycho and it needed repair, so I sent it in to the O'Neill warranty repair. I waited 2 months and then they sent it back and said they wouldn't fix it. What am I supposed to do with a 3 inch open seam? I used glue I bought at my local shop and it lasted a couple of sessions but that was it. I was pretty pissed about this and my friend told me that he got his Aleeda Wetsuit seam repaired in one day!! I couldn't believe it! He told me he just drove it over to the factory and that they repaired it the same day. I have since found out that they do all repairs on Friday's if your suit is dry.

I haven't always been the guy to "buy American" but since this experience, I am proud to "buy American" and find every opportunity to do so. So from one surfer to all of you, next time you consider buying the "coolest" or the "latest" phsycho freaky, or hyperflexy, or whatever the verbage, consider where and how it's made.

Thanks for reading,

Buy American
by: ASA

Have a Matuse, never thought to ask before hand but it also is made in china and learning that disappointed me to no end. I don't mind paying top dollar for a good American made product but in gauls the nads off me to know that matuse is made by some poor smuck earning coolie wages and that the high price actually reflects the profits to some corporate importer/middle man helping to destroy middle America's job base. My next one will be American made.

amen brother,

i am having similar issues with Ripcurl. Thus far they have been making repairs or replacing my suit but the failure rate of the suits I have bought recently is alarming. I have been wearing their suits since I was 12, thats 26 years now and I may have to switch companies.
