Ugg Boots
Ugg Boots derive their name form the term "ugg", which was short for ugly. Today it refers to several Australian manufacturers of this sheepskin boot. Nice and cozy when coming out of the water. There nice because they can be worn without socks. Who wants to mess with socks after your feet have been chilled in the water. Just dab them off and slip Uggs on. Perfect for around the house as well as a type of slipper.
The outside of the boot is created from sheepskin while the inside contains wool to keep feet warm and dry. It is this feature that makes these boots a must have for surfers.
This piece of footwear has been a favorite among the surfing community since the 1960’s. One of the best versions for surfers is the Classic Short boot. Outside layers of the boot consist of two layers of sheepskin that can be pretreated with a spray to make it waterproof. Other features of the boot include a reinforced heel and wool inside lining.
Surfers can benefit from a pair of Ugg boots as the go-to shoe to keep feet warm and dry. Wool lining on the inside allows for air circulation to move through the boot. This circulation process removes sweat and water from feet in order to keep them dry. Body temperature is maintained through the inside of the boot as well keeping feet warm. These are two things that surfers look for in a piece of footwear.
Another great Ugg product for surfers is the Bloke boot. There is an element of elasticity to this boot that allows for ease in stretch and movement out of the water. The stretch factor will be appreciated when climbing out of the rough waves. After having spent a few hours catching waves, a nice soft pair of Uggs that is easy to pull on and keep feet warm and dry is all a surfer really needs to end the perfect day out on the water.
