Surfboard Bags
There are are variety of surfboard bags available. - The lightest is the sock. This kind of bag is essentially a light cloth bag with a drawstring. Very popular with everyday shortboard transportation.
- The most popular board bag for air travel is the kind introduced by the Pro-Lite company in 1982. These are the half inch thick polyproplylene bags. They feature a removable shoulder strap and have a strong zipper running along the length of the bag. They are no guarantee agains the brutal handling of airline bag smashers, but used with some paper and styrofoam strips on the surfboard rails they usually do fine.
- For holding several boards the coffin board bags are popular. Wheels are nice features for these so you don't kill yourself lugging one around the airport terminal.
- Hard plastic travel cases are available as well. Heavier than the rest but they offer the ultimate protection. You really don't need to add anything else inside to protect your surfboards with one of these bad boys.
