Funboards

Funboards are 7-9ft in length and have a very similar shape to longboards; wide noses and a pin, squash, or square tail. Width is 20 inches or more. They are best for those looking for a bridge from a longboard to a shortboard, or for those just looking for something a little more maneuverable than a standard longboard.

Of course, you don't get something for nothing, and what you give up here is the same floatation and paddle as a longboard. Also, they ride very similar to longboards but the aren't for noseriding. Still, funboards paddle significantly better than shortboards, and make great additions to most surfers' quiver.

A close variation of the funboard is the "egg", wich sports a wide thin rounded design, usually 6-8.5ft in length. Funboards between 8-9ft can also be referred to as "mini longboard" or "mini-mals".

Thrashed Funboard from 1980

I actually used this funboad years ago. It was already very old and I surfed it until the tail fell apart in 1998.
