Discount Surfboards

Times are tough and discount surfboards are increasingly in demand. In any economy surfboard cost is an issue, but these days it's especially true. But just what is a discount board?

For the purpose of discussion here. I classify a discount board as any NEW surfboard that is significantly cheaper than a like surfboard from a major brand. A discount shortboard or fishboard should cost less than $400. A discount longboard or funboard should cost less than $450. OK, the cost savings is obvious. What's the downside?

Surprisingly, there usually isn't much downside. Of course this varies from board to board. Many times that extra cost is mostly brand name recognition. Good discount boards are great boards for great prices.
