Bodyboards

Bodyboards are mush easier to ride than surfboards. If you want a quick intro to wave riding bodyboards are the way to go. They also work better on close-out shorebreak waves.

Morey, BZ, Wave Rebel, O'neill, and Gordon and Smith make some the most popular bodyboards. When choosing a bodyboard consider a few basics.

Shape: Use a flat bodyboard for mellow waves and get one with a large nose for bodyboarding on one knee.

Size: The bodyboard should be about the same height as your navel.

Rail: Use a 60/40 rail for more control but a 50/50 is best for speed.

That's about it, bodyboarding is pretty straightforward, hold on and ride the wave. More complicated tricks come with time. Always exercise caution in the ocean and know your limits

Don't forget to get a bodyboard bag and fins.
