As the story goes, Jack came back from "lunch" and had to show a client his architectural drawings. While doing so water gushed form his sinuses and made a mess of the drawings. (On a side note, that has happend to me many times, but so far I have avoided spilling the sinus water on very expensive electronic equipment I work with.) Fortunately for cold water surfers everywhere, Jack lost his job a few days later.

Soon after he opened up a surf shop near Ocean Beach, SF and began selling the first, although primitive, surfing wetsuits.
