Surfboard Wax
The important factor to consider with surfoard wax is the temperature of the water your surfing in. Surfboard wax is available as warm, cool, and cold type. There is also a base coat wax. They are pretty much self explanatory terms.
- Warm water surfboard wax is used for water temps around 70-80 degrees. That would for the lucky ones out there and not for use at surfing-gear.net .
- Cool water wax is for water temps around 60-70 degrees.
- Cold water wax is for water temps around 50-60 degrees..that's us.
- Base wax is for the first coat to give the surfboard a rough surface. That allows the top coat to go on a little easier.
There is very little technique to know for applying surfboard wax. Just make small crosses all over the board with the base wax. Then apply the the top coat wax in circular motions until the wax forms small bumps.
Some of the most popular brands are Dr. Zog's and Sticky Bumps. We like Sticky Bumps. - Cool water wax is for water temps around 60-70 degrees.
